Introduced in 1963, this Leica 21mm f3.4 Super-Angulon was a faster replacement for the earlier f4 version of the same lens. It included an extra 1/2 stop of light and is said to have superior optical quality, but also included a new, less desirable 4-bladed diaphragm which is controversial, in part, because of the four pointed flares which appear around bright points of light. This lens features 48mm filter threads, or can also use Series VII drop-in filters when paired with the accessory hood.
While later versions of this lens are useable on the Leica M5, this earlier version is not, because the large rear element protrudes into the camera cavity and inhibits metering on that camera.
Includes original front cap, hood, Leica UV Filter, original deep rear cap, and 21mm SBKOO finder in original leather case.
